We are Bucket Fillers!
To help promote character education in our classroom, we read the book, Have You Filled A Bucket Today? This book helps promote positive feelings and attitudes towards ourselves and others. In a new twist on the Golden Rule, Have You Filled a Bucket Today? explains to children that we all carry an invisible bucket in which we keep our feelings about ourselves. When our buckets are full, we are happy; when they are empty, we are sad. It's important to know that we can fill our own bucket and so can others. We can also dip into it. After we read the book we listed ways to fill other people's bucket on a bucket poster. Then we made our own buckets that we can fill daily throughout the year as a remember that this is what Jesus would want us to do. He instructs us to "Encourage one another and build each other up," in 1 Thessalonians 5:11. Let's all be bucket fillers!
